Turkey and Europe conquer Sudan.
The british invade Sudan. Sudan is under Anglo-Egyptian condominium. The First sudanese civil war begins. Sudan achieves independence. A military coup is staged, and the civilian government is eliminated. The civil war breaks out in Southern Sudan. Rebellion strikes out from the people of Sudan, and a national government is created. In Addis Ababa, a peace treaty is signed, and a self-governing region is established in the south. The secong Sudanese civil war begins. The government forces are against the Sudan's People Liberation Army, led by John Garang. The president is removed, and replaced by the Transnational Military Council. Omar al-Bashir takes the place of president. Sudan is blamed for attempting to assasinate an Egyptian prime minister. Oil is starting to be exported from Sudan. Hunger affects over 3 million people in Sudan, and the UN tries to solve this issue. Numerous people are left without homes after the Nile River floods. A ceasefire between the SPLA and the government is agreed on. The war in Darfur begins. The government brings down the rebellion in Darfur. Numerous people seek refuge in the country of Chad. The government and the SPLA sign a Comprehensive Peace Agreement. A power-sharing governemnt government is created. A peace accord is signed between the government and Sudan Liberation Movement. The UN sends 26,00 peacekeeping troops to Darfur. South Sudan becomes its own independent country. |
